Fossil fuel corporations’ climate change, parody song

This 19 February 2019 musical parody video from Britain is called REM (RepublicanExxonMobil) – It’s the End of the World for You Suckers

It is a parody of the R.E.M. song It’s the end of the world as we know it.

It says about itself:

The Republican Party have teamed up with ExxonMobil to form an R.E.M. tribute band in response to these outrageous and totally unfounded climate change protests.

LYRICS: Hey, wait! We didn’t cause that earthquake
Just ask the research group we paid
There’s no need to be afraid
Here comes a hurricane, not our fault either
We just serve the world’s needs, fuel and palm oil seeds
Speed everything up, speed is our strength
Denying this scientist hampering our profits
Corporate benefactors of contrary information
With a government for hire and extraction sites
Undermine consensus with dissenting propaganda
Posing as informed
Team of our executives as Trump’s inner circle
Look at that decoy – yuge wall!
Uh oh, overflow from Mexico, bringing drugs
And raping folks – save ourselves, serve ourselves
We just serve the world’s needs
While the liberals’ hearts bleed
Bringing on the rapture with our reverence to the right, right
Dousing the Kyoto Protocol in petrochemicals

It’s the end of the world for you suckers
It’s the end of the world for you suckers
It’s the end of the world for you suckers
And I feel rich

Six o’clock on FOX
Warning of a foreign power
Diverting the nation
From deforestation
Arming lobby groups against the US Congress
Motives to deregulate – we donate, they legislate
Gas emissions are efficient
Greenhouse deloused
Climate change denial
It is just a big pile of bile
From communists who are hostile
Governing the government
A covenant of lies
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
And I’ll decline

It’s the end of the world for you suckers
It’s the end of the world for you suckers
It’s the end of the world for you suckers
And I feel rich

OIL GIANTS INVEST $100 Billion IN FOSSIL FUELS The world’s five largest publicly traded oil companies are increasing their investments in oil and gas, plowing a combined $110 billion into new fossil-fuel production. They are projected to spend just $3.6 billion on low-carbon investments, such as biofuels and renewables. The United Nations just months ago warned that the world must rapidly phase out fossil fuel use over the next decade or face catastrophic global warming of at least 2.7 degrees. [HuffPost]
