Skylarks in trouble

This is a video of a singing skylark.

Translated from the Dutch ornithologists of SOVON:

Friday, November 23, 2012

The melodic singer of the arable land is in heavy weather. Counts from the early seventies till now show that the skylark has decreased by 96 percent. In the more intensively managed grasslands, for the skylark there are increasingly fewer places to breed. This bird of grassland and field is not the only one who is doing so poorly. Almost all farmland birds show a steady decline.
