This Catalan video is about birds and other wildlife in the Llobregat delta near Barcelona.
30 October 2014.
Our plane flew to Barcelona in Spain.
Next to Barcelona airport is a fine birding area, the Llobregat delta.
Many water birds winter there. So, we went there. This is why there were fewer posts at this blog last week.
Near the parking lot, spotless starlings on a wire.
A little egret flies over the water near the hide.
And lands, close to a great cormorant drying its wings, and a coot swimming.
There are also great egrets. And grey lag geese.
There are turtles in the water. The native species here is the Spanish pond turtle. However, we see red-eared slider turtles: invaders from North America.
A Cetti’s warbler sings.
So does a Sardinian warbler.
A grey heron flying.
Four sleepy snipes near the hide.
A ruff male, and a female. The male is much bigger.
A water pipit, not far from the snipes.
A dunlin feeding.
Meanwhile, the snipes have woken up.
At the next hide, a little grebe swims.
A moorhen.
A shoveler duck.
As we walk back, a beautiful kingfisher.
Stay tuned for more blog posts about birds in Spain!
