Albergen – That Pastor H. Boonk in the 70s and 80s of the last century abused altar boys sexually was an open secret in the Overijssel village.

Many people knew about it. It was also reported more than once to the deacon and the bishop, but it was never checked whether anything has been done with those reports.

This is what the parish administration and the pastoral team of the Pancras Parish write this Friday in a letter to the parishioners. They call on Albergen people to break the silence, now that nine former altar boys have come out with their stories. The abuse in Albergen has been admitted officially by the Catholic Church.

About the now deceased priest it was also known that as a chaplain he had abused boys in Arnhem. In the small village Albergen he continued his predatory behaviour.
