Norway massacre: Terrorist massacre ‘a warning for Britain’

Sunday 24 July 2011

Westminster urged to take threat seriously in light of killer’s admiration for EDL

Anti-fascist activists branded Norway’s terrorist killings a warning to Britain today after it emerged that the English Defence League was a source of inspiration for gunman Anders Behring Breivik.

In an essay posted hours before the killings began, Breivik cited the English Defence League multiple times as one of seven legal fronts against political correctness, “cultural Marxism” and Islamisation.

He wrote: “A primary task should be to send out the truth … which includes an indirect invitation to join us in armed resistance.

“It will be up to each European if he or she decides to heed our calling or if he/she would like to wait until a later time.

“A very important aspect of this non-military effort will involve indirect recruitment work for the armed European resistance movement.”

“Our objective is to consolidate all good forces in Europe,” Mr Breivik wrote.

“We are growing every single day but we must do even more to increase the ongoing political momentum.”

The revelations follow the conviction of two men with EDL links last month on charges of inciting racial hatred.

The men, who admitted posting instructions for making bombs and flamethrowers on their 350-strong Aryan Strike Force site, were caught on tape at several League events.

Unite Against Fascism secretary Weyman Bennett said Mr Breivik’s manifesto revealed a “murky underworld” of nationalist links across Europe.

Hope Not Hate co-ordinator Nick Lowles urged the government to classify and monitor the EDL as “far-right extremists” in light of Mr Breivik’s links.

“With evidence pointing to Anders Breivik‘s admiration for the EDL and an increasingly militant tone being taken by EDL units across Britain, surely it is time for the authorities finally to take this threat seriously.”

He said he hoped it would not take an atrocity for the government to act against them.

Muslim and multicultural groups accused the British media today of a “knee-jerk” response after initial coverage wrongly linked Oslo’s deadly terrorist attacks to Islamists.

Why We Should Worry About Right-Wing Terror Attacks Like Norway’s in the US. Frank Schaeffer, AlterNet: “The Norwegian police on Saturday charged a 32-year-old man, whom they identified as a Christian fundamentalist with right-wing connections, over the bombing of a government center and a shooting attack on a nearby island that together left at least 91 people dead… There is a growing movement in America that equates godliness with hatred of our government in fact hatred of our country as fallen and evil because we allow women choice, gays to marry, have a social safety net, and allow immigration from other cultures and non-white races”: here.

THE fascist, Breivik, who carried out the mass murder of up to 100, mainly youth in Oslo and attempted to murder the Labour Prime Minister, was neither acting alone nor is he a lunatic: here.

The terrorist attacks in Oslo on Friday that killed at least 92 mostly young people have been compared with the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, which also had a right-wing background. The Oslo atrocity has also been compared with school shootings, such as at Columbine High School in Colorado and in Erfurt and Winnenden in Germany: here.
