Donald Trump and US Republican war on women

This video from the USA says about itself:

Donald Trump Provides Blitzkrieg for GOP’s War on Women

16 October 2016

Nearly every day for the last week we’ve been hit with a new allegation of sexual misconduct or gross indecency from Donald Trump. This is what happens when one political party spends years demonizing and degrading women.

Peter Thiel decided now was a good time to donate over a million dollars to the Trump campaign.

157 REPUBLICANS OPPOSE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT The House passed legislation Thursday to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, despite opposition from the majority of Republicans, bowing to NRA pressure. The bill, which reauthorizes the landmark 1994 domestic violence law for another five years, easily passed. But 157 Republicans and one Democrat voted against it. [HuffPost]

GOP WANTS TO ELECT MORE WOMEN — JUST NOT FEWER MEN Rosemary Becchi is running for one of the House seats Democrats snapped up in the blue wave of 2018 and that Republicans are eager to retake in 2020. But when Becchi met with a party official at National Republican Congressional Committee headquarters in Washington, he asked her not to run. [HuffPost]

  4. For years, NBC hid the infamous Access Hollywood video with Donald Trump bragging to Billy Bush about sexually assaulting women.

Now NBC and MGM are refusing to release footage from The Apprentice that is even worse, according to multiple people who have seen it.1

Meanwhile, Trump and his campaign are viciously attacking the women he sexually assaulted, calling them liars and worse.2 By continuing to hide these tapes, NBC and MGM, the studio that now owns them, are aiding and abetting Trump’s efforts to silence his victims.

We’re flooding NBC and MGM with phone calls and running airplane banner ads over their corporate headquarters in Los Angeles demanding they release the tapes. Will you chip in $5 to help ramp up the pressure before Election Day?

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 to demand that NBC and MGM release the Trump tapes from The Apprentice and fund other work to hold Trump accountable.

The only way the public ever saw that awful Access Hollywood video was because someone leaked it to The Washington Post. And the tapes from The Apprentice reportedly include clips of him using the n-word.3

Why are NBC and MGM protecting Trump? Maybe it’s because Trump has been a cash cow for NBC and MGM for years, first as a reality TV star and then as a political candidate, and now they’re trying to protect themselves from embarrassment.

But in just the last few days, nine women have come forward to share their stories of being attacked by Trump.4 And Trump has responded by calling their stories “complete fiction.” He’s even said the women can’t be telling the truth because they’re not attractive enough for him to have sexually assaulted them.5

By keeping these tapes hidden from the public, NBC and MGM are helping Trump smear these women by concealing evidence that would corroborate their stories.

Trump is a sexual predator who could become President of the United States, and NBC and MGM have an obligation to stop hiding this information from the voters. But with just over three weeks till Election Day we need to turn up the pressure. Will you chip in $5?

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 to demand that NBC and MGM stop hiding the Trump tapes from The Apprentice and fund other work to hold Trump accountable.

    Thanks for speaking out.

    > Summer Zervos is fighting back against the Trump campaign’s attacks on her credibility, which began after she accused the Republican presidential nominee of nominee of unwanted kissing and groping.
    >
    > Zervos’ lawyer, women’s rights activist Gloria Allred, produced a witness who she says corroborates the former “Apprentice” contestant’s claims in a press conference Sunday. Ann Russo, a social worker and friend of Zervos, said she recalls the contestant talking about her encounters with Trump more than five years ago — long before the candidate decided to run for office.
    >
    >
    > Attorney Gloria Allred address the press on Sunday.
    > Russo said she felt compelled to speak up on behalf of Zervos because as a therapist she could see similarities in her case and with the sexual assault survivors she’s treated over the years.
    >
    > “It is very common for people who have experienced assault to blame themselves and excuse away what the predator has done,” Russo said. “But sexual assault is not about sex, as much as it is about power and control.”
    >
    > “I think it’s very evident that we see in his personality that Trump is all about power and control,” she said.
    >
    > Allred also addressed a claim from Zervos’ cousin, John Barry, that she only publicized her sexual assault allegations against Trump because she “wishes she could still be on reality TV.”
    >
    > In a statement released by the Trump campaign last week, Barry said he is an avid Trump supporter and credits his cousin for converting “her friends and our family” to supporting the Republican nominee by praising him over the years.
    >
    > Related: The Allegations Women Have Made Against Donald Trump
    > But Allred said Barry’s allegations stem from a family dispute and that Zervos’ previous support of Trump does not negate her claim. Barry denies this and told MSNBC Sunday that he and his family simply had a “management dispute.”
    >
    > Allred stressed that this is not about money and that her client does not intend to press charges against Trump at this time.
    >
    > “I would suggest to Mr. Trump that he rein himself in and stop attacking women and stop attacking accusers,” she said.
    >
    > Zervos was a contestant on the fifth season of “The Apprentice” and has said she always wanted to work for Trump. But that was before a series of encounters in which she alleges Trump sexually harassed and assaulted her, kissing her on the lips and groping her breasts and body.
    >
    > “This made me feel very nervous and embarrassed,” Zervos said during a press conference last week . “This is not what I wanted or expected.”

    > Over the last week Trump and his surrogates have continued to forcefully denounce allegations of any sexual misconduct, even as eight other women have come forward with claims that the Republican nominee has made unwanted physical advances.
    >
    > Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani suggested Sunday that Zervos was speaking out “to get money” during an appearance on NBC’s “Weekend Today.”
    >
    > “I am saying one thing: I have been a trial lawyer for of life and an investigator. I don’t believe in coincidences,” Giuliani said.
