Peace scarf to span 7 miles between nuke factories
Friday 8th August 2014
More than 5,000 people from communities across Britain and beyond — including Africa, the Middle East, and South America — contributed to the scarf, which was started by the Wool Against Weapons campaign.
Sections of the scarf have been displayed at landmarks including the Angel of the North and Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
The scarf will later be turned into blankets and sent to areas of humanitarian need.
“People are fed up with the government saying there’s not enough money for vital public services while waving through the purchase of a £100bn cold war weapons system,” said Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament general secretary Kate Hudson.
