Birds counted on Terschelling island

This video is about a bar-tailed godwit flock near Seeryp on Terschelling island in the Netherlands. Among the godwits were also some grey plovers, sanderlings and dunlins.

On 19 January 2014 was the international coastal bird count, from western Europe to South Africa.

The Harlinger Courant daily in the Netherlands reports about that day on Terschelling island.

Over 100,000 birds were counted. In the Stryper polder meadows, there were some 5,000 brent geese and barnacle geese.

Near the fourth sand dunes of Boschplaat nature reserve were 14,000 oystercatchers.

Many wigeons were counted as well.
