The Dutch daily NRC Handelsblad reports that Belgian judicial authorities are investigating an extreme-right blog, the Brussels Journal, which focuses on criticising Muslims. The site has links to Geert Wilders as well as to the far-fight Flemish Interest (Vlaams Belang) party.

Intelligence services want to investigate the link between Brussels Journal and Breivik

Belgian security services have sent a file to the federal prosecutor about a possible link between the Brussels Journal website and the Norwegian perpetrator of the two attacks in Oslo and Utoya, Anders Behring Breivik. The Concentra newspapers write this.

The Brussels Journal is the brainchild of Paul Belien, a right-wing conservative ideologue in the Kempen region. Belien works for the Dutch politician Geert Wilders.

The intelligence services in our country would like to get clarity on several issues. According to the newspapers, in recent years the Brussels Journal has published texts which also occur in ‘2083 A European Declaration of Independence’, the manifesto which Breivik published on the Internet just before his attacks. Those 1,500 pages of text are an indictment of the multicultural society and also a practical guide for violent attacks in Europe.

If the police, based on the file of the intelligence services, will get a mandate from the federal prosecutor, they will be able to unravel everything. For example, which parts of Breivik’s manifesto have been published at The Brussels Journal and who wrote them and whether one of those people had contact with Breivik. (belga / jv)
