Dead Lion Walking: Canned Hunting in South Africa

15 May 2015

‘Dead Lion Walking’ highlights the extent of the cruel canned hunting industry in South Africa, where there are around 6000 captive lions in 200 breeding facilities. Featuring exclusive footage of these “hunts” and interviews with experts on the industry, the video shows why the public should say no to this horrendous practice and exposes the massive welfare concerns and cruelty within the lion breeding industry in South Africa.

From Yahoo! News today:

Trophy hunter is killed by stray bullet while stalking lions in Africa

A Croatian trophy hunter who boasted that he had shot ‘everything that could be hunted in Europe’ has died while hunting lions in South Africa.

Pero Jelinic, 75, was hit by a stray bullet during the hunt at a remote farm, where he had already killed one lion and was stalking another.

Jelinic was hunting at a remote farm where
lions are raised in captivity purely to be hunted.

Police say they do not know who fired the fatal shot.

Probably a hunter who does not know the difference between a fellow hunter and a lion; like Dick Cheney in the USA does not know the difference between a fellow hunter and a quail. Like another hunter does not know the difference between a hare and a female cyclist.

… His office, a hunting hall, was full of trophies, deer and bear specimens and everything that could be hunted in Croatia and Europe.
