EPA Says Fiat Cheated on Diesel Emissions Testing
Jan. 12 2017– Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was accused by the U.S. government of using software that allowed excess diesel emissions in about 104,000 vehicles. Bloomberg’s David Welch reports on “Bloomberg Markets.”
Translated from Dutch NOS TV:
RDW [Dutch cars registration authority]: fraudulent software in Jeep Grand Cherokee and Suzuki Vitara
Today, 13:43
In two car models that have been approved in the Netherlands there is fraudulent software. This is evidenced by RDW research. It is about the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Suzuki Vitara. The software in tests provides values that are higher in practice. …
Both cars expel too much nitrogen. …
According to the RDW, the Suzuki Vitara has a time-dependent emission control. The emission starts low, but increases over time. And the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s emissions are much higher when the test is done with a heated engine than when a cold engine is used.
Jeep is a US American corporation, fully owned by Fiat Chrysler from Italy (which has other pollution fraud scandals as well). Suzuki is a Japanese corporation.
