Trump, Clinton in Frank Sinatra parody song

This is a 9 September 2016 parody music video from Britain about United States presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. It is based on ‘Something stupid‘, best known as sung by Frank and Nancy Sinatra.

The lyrics are:

HC: I know I’ve had controversies both domestic and overseas, but that’s in the past
DT: I know I said some stuff that at the time was off-the-cuff, but my support has amassed
HC: Eventually we’ll have a 1v1 debate and an election will ensue
DT: But then I’ll go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like, “I will build a wall between our country and Mexico…”

HC: I can see it in your eyes that you got wise to all my lies, but I will take you down
DT: Well, you’re in for a shock ’cause people love it when I mock you and I play the clown

DT: I practise every day to find some clever lines to say so I can have the best words
HC: But you and I both know your rhetoric is truly sick and that your hair is absurd
DT: The time is right, your bullshit fills my head, my face turns red and my language blue
HC: But then I’ll go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like, “I remember arriving in Bosnia under sniper fire…”

DT: And then I’ll go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like, “Donald J Trump is calling for an immediate ban on all Muslims entering the United States…”

HC: And then I’ll go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like…

Clinton steps up appeals to Republicans, military: here.

Trump could get away with repeating his lie about being a staunch opponent of the Iraq War. That scenario played out 48 hours later when Lauer didn’t fact-check Trump’s false Iraq claim, along with failing to point out that the Republican nominee supported the 2011 U.S. intervention in Libya: here.

    • Trump is racist; not only against Muslims:

Donald Trump expels peaceful silent Muslim woman from meeting

about a peaceful Muslim woman, who, like the overwhelming majority of Muslims was NOT ‘killing us’

      but also against Latinos:

United States Republican Donald Trump’s anti-Latin American racism

      And against African Americans:

Deport Ferguson demonstrators from the USA, Donald Trump says

Black Republican expelled from Trump rally

      And sexist:

(from the British Conservative Telegraph daily).

As for Hillary, her militarist foreign policy views, her support for fracking and Wall Street Big Business are even more worrying than her lies.

      • I have seen that where Trump has gotten feedback on issues , he is willing to apologize and all. As far as racist goes, if stopping terrorists from coming here is racist then I am too. I think Obama has really gotten people to drink his American hating kool-aide. He’s leading the wrong country.

A blanket ban on Muslims coming to the USA is not ‘stopping terrorists’. It hurts the 99,9% of Muslims who are not terrorists. Like a ban on Hindus would hurt the 99,9% of Hindus who are not terrorists. Like a ban on Jews would hurt the 99,9% of Jews who are not terrorists. Like a ban on Roman Catholics would hurt the 99,9% of Roman Catholics who are not terrorists. Like a ban on atheists would hurt the 99,9% of atheists who are not terrorists. Jeb Bush opposes Trump’s ban as it would hurt the Saudi royal family and the Bin Laden family with both of whom the Bush family has business links. My concerns are rather about the non-royal and non-rich Muslims, and others hurt by discrimination.

          • I see your point. But at what point do we stop the bleeding? How many more thousands of Americans do you want to see jumping to their deaths like 9/11? Do you not see that Obama has basically tried to turn power over to Muslims here even in the white house ? It’s scary. I’d rather be safe then sorry. You give all the examples that aren’t real. No Catholic or Jew or Hindu is banned from here.

            • ‘No Catholic or Jew or Hindu is banned from here.’ In Spain, there used to be extreme-right Roman Catholic pro-Franco fascist terrorists ‘Warriors of Christ the King’. There used to be the IRA, mainly Irish Roman Catholics, seen as terrorists by the British and US governments, though not by many people in Ireland. In the USA and other countries, there are the followers of Rabbi Kahane, banned in Israel as terrorists. In India, violent Hindus of the RSS organisation kill Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, etc. Terrorism is not limited to any religion or ethnicity.

              • Once again I agree . However we don’t live in Spain and we deal with reality . The here and now. I never said all Muslims are terrorists. I would suggest you take some time to read the Koran if you haven’t. It’s about killing and death to all non -muslims. Take it however you like I take it serious.

If, as you correctly say, not all Muslims are terrorists, then ALL Muslims should not be banned, as Trump wants; like all Christians etc. should not be banned. Breivik, the mass murderer in Norway, calls himself a ‘conservative Christian’. This does not mean that all Norwegians, or all Norwegian Christians, should be banned from the USA. Timothy McVeigh, of the mass murder in Oklahoma City was not a Muslim, but an extreme right “Christian Identity” US American Christian. So are the “Army of God” with their terrorist attacks on abortion clinics.

                • Timothy McVeigh and his associates killed 168 people and injured over 800 in Oklahoma city. Not a minor case.

The Army Of God anti-abortionists are not ‘isolated nut cases’ but a national organisation.

The Hutaree Christian militia are an organisation, not isolated individuals. So is the Ku Klux Klan.

According to Europol police figures, only 0,4% of terrorism in Europe is by Muslims. Most is by neo-nazis and similar ‘white nationalists’:

There are mathematically small risks with pilots of any religion.

Eg, the German Christian pilot Lubitz who recently committed suicide in France, taking all his 150 plane’s passengers with him into death:

German aircraft disaster in France, because of profits first, safety second?

                • 9/11 in 2001 in the USA was not a Muslim issue. It was a Saudi Arabian issue. The overwhelming majority of Muslims in the world, including many in Saudi Arabia itself, don’t subscribe to the Saudi government’s version of Islam.

President Bush in 2001 denied it was a Muslim issue (though he also foolishly used the word ‘crusade’). He far more strongly denied it was a Saudi issue, letting Bin Laden family members who might have been important witnesses fly out of the USA, while not even Bush’s father was allowed to fly.

                • Ok. My bad. So let’s talk about the last eight years. I have watched Obama try to strip us of our guns. However I did catch him stroke a 3 BILLION dollar check to none other then …guess who. The Muslim brotherhood. His posse. Do you know they don’t like us too much and guess what they bought with the cash? Arms. Wow. I smell a rat. If you aren’t worried you should be.

What one CAN and should reproach Obama about is that he continued and in some cases escalated George W Bush’s wars; escalated drone warfare which mainly kills civilians; helped selling still more weapons to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and similar regimes; etc.

  1. I’d say, Obama, apart from the points I mentioned, deserves, eg, blame for appointing ‘humaniitarian’ war hawk Samantha Power as United Nations ambassador. However, he also deserves at least some praise for acting sometimes as a bit of a brake on the hawkish policies of Hillary Clinton; who is clearly to the right of Obama; as is her vice presidential running mate Kain.

  2. On Wednesday night, Trump doubled down on blaming rape survivors for their sexual assault–implying that the solution is to take away women’s right to serve in the military.1

Matt Lauer let him get away with it, but we’re not going to.

Our ad team just created a rapid response TV spot calling out Trump’s victim-blaming, and with your help, we can get it on the air THIS WEEKEND.2 Will you chip in $5?

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 to help call out Trump for blaming survivors of rape in the military.

It was one of Trump’s most sexist, violently misogynistic statements ever: “26,000 unreported sexual assaults in the military-only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?”3

But when Matt Lauer asked him about it at Wednesday’s Commander in Chief Forum, Trump refused to back down.

A man who repeatedly blames survivors and thinks the solution for sexual assault is to punish women can never be allowed near the White House.

But the really terrifying thing is that the latest polls show that Trump is catching up. Just a few weeks ago he was down by 8 points. Now he’s within 2-3.4

That’s why we can’t let him get away with statements like the ones he made Wednesday blaming women for rape. This rapid-response ad is exactly what we need to keep the focus on the sexist, anti-woman views that only the most radical right-wing voters support. Will you chip in $5?

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 to help call out Trump for blaming survivors of rape in the military.

    Thanks for speaking out.
