This video from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in the USA says about itself:
22 July 2015
Wood Ducks are small and stocky ducks with a crested appearance and a relatively long tail. Males are ornately patterned with iridescent colors and intricate plumage details. This species prefers tree-lined ponds and swampy woods, and is one of the few duck species to nest in tree cavities or even nest boxes placed along the edges of ponds.
By the early 20th century, the beautiful Wood Duck had been nearly driven to extinction by overhunting and habitat destruction. But in 1934, an innovative federal plan (the Duck Stamp Act), brought together hunters, artists, and wildlife managers in a conservation partnership, and now the Wood Duck and other waterfowl have made a huge comeback. Read the full story of one of the most successful but underappreciated conservation successes of the last century.

OrnithoNieuws-lezers SCHRIJVEN :
Hi,
Vandaag 04-04-2017 in

handhaven!
