Coot nest, five new eggs

This video is called Eurasian Black Coot with Baby Chicks (Fulica atra).

Today, the young coot, probably the only one left of originally at least four chicks, sitting on the nest.

It is by now almost as big as its parents.

Next to the youngster, five eggs of the second brood of this year.

The parents swam close to the nest. One of them brought a water plant to make the nest stronger. Probably no need to sit on the eggs today, as it is a hot day.
