Afghan holiday events cancelled
AFGHANISTAN: Thousands of anxious police patrolled Kabul on Tuesday on a national holiday meant to celebrate the victory of US-backed Islamist insurgents against Soviet forces in the 1980s.
Afghan officials cancelled all public events this year because of an attack on last year’s parade.
