‘Don’t punish pro-climate strikers’

This 19 September 2019 video says about itself:

Adults should not punish young climate strikers, says head of Amnesty International

The global climate strike on Sept. 20 has the potential to be “the largest climate protest, and potentially one of the largest protests ever to happen in the world,” says Kumi Naidoo, Secretary General of Amnesty International.

Naidoo, once a youth activist himself who participated in school walk-outs against apartheid in South Africa at age 15, has been encouraging parents and school authorities around the world not to punish young climate activists for participating in the strike. “These people are shaping the world,” he says of the youth activists on the frontlines of the climate fight. “This is the most powerful, energizing moment in our struggle against the climate catastrophe. … I think the young kids have actually shown courage.” Naidoo also condemns the global trend of violence against environmental activists, both physically and online.
