Amazon.com, Netflix tax dodging

This 27 March 2019 video from Senator Bernie Sanders in the USA says about itself:

Amazon Has Paid Zero in Federal Income Taxes

Do you want to know what’s crazy? Last year, Amazon and Netflix, to name a couple companies, paid no federal income taxes after making billions in profits.

It will take more than a year to determine the cause of a recent Amazon Air crash, according to Robert Sumwalt, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). “This seems to be very much a mystery, but the NTSB has 52 years of experience solving such mysteries, and I’m confident we will get to the bottom of this,” Sumwalt told Flying magazine. Amazon Air was established several years ago as a way for Amazon, the Internet retail giant, to increase profits by cutting its growing shipping costs. In 2015, Amazon began leasing aircraft from companies that also provided employees to fly, maintain and insure them. Amazon owns no planes, and the pilots who deliver its cargo are not legally its employees. In the process of establishing Amazon Air, Amazon has shown its usual disregard for worker training and safety, maintaining its laser focus on the bottom line. The crash is the company’s first: here.

  6. German Amazon workers strike

Amazon workers at four fulfilment sites in Germany began a strike Monday, with some sites due to stay out until Thursday. The sites were Rheinberg, Werne, Bad Herfeld and Koblenz. Workers at other sites planned strikes over the Easter holiday.

The Verdi trade union members struck as part of a long-running dispute for their pay and working conditions to be brought into line with workers in other mail order and retail sectors.
