Saudi-led airstrikes hit market in Yemen, 45 killed

27 February 2016

Warplanes of the Saudi-led Arab coalition launched airstrikes that … hit a public market in the northeastern part of Yemen’s capital Sanaa on Saturday, killing 45 civilians. Witnesses confirmed that “the air bombing targeted a popular market in Nehm at first and then returned back to hit the rescuers in double tap airstrikes.”

From daily The Morning Star in Britain:

Labour hears call to ban Saudi officials from conference

Monday 21st March 2016

DIGNITARIES from Saudi Arabia should be excluded from Labour’s conference this year, two members of the party’s ruling executive have said.

Peter Willsman, who represents Constituency Labour Parties on the executive, joined Unite political director Jennie Formby in objecting to the state’s inclusion among “international visitors” to the September meeting.

Party workers agreed on Tuesday to “consult shadow cabinet members” on the issue.

In a blog published on the Left Futures website, Mr Willsman said: “We pointed out that recently Saudi Arabia had been responsible for particularly vicious and inhumane actions.”
