Pianist performs John Lennon’s Imagine after Paris attacks

14 November 2015

A man performed John Lennon‘s classic ‘Imagine’ on a piano outside Bataclan concert hall in Paris.

John Lennon‘s song Imagine is number one in the Top 2000 of songs for 2015 of Dutch radio. Last year that song was at #38.

Every year in the last week of December, Dutch radio plays a Top 2000; based on votes by listeners. They have started it again today.

At #2, like last year, is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.

At 3# is the #1 of 2014: Hotel California by The Eagles.

At #4 is the first song in the Dutch language. It is ‘Mag ik dan bij jou’ by Claudia de Breij. In 2014, it was at #19.

This 25 October 2015 music video is about Syrian singer Shaza Hayek. Ms Hayek arrived as a refugee in Nijmegen in the Netherlands in early 2015.

In the video, she sings ‘Mag ik dan bij jou’.

The song is about war. It moved Shaza Hayek, as she fled war in Syria.

Nijmegen daily De Gelderlander reported that she has recorded Arabic translations of this song, and of another Dutch song, by Frank Boeijen.

You can hear Shaza Hayek‘s version of ‘Mag ik dan bij jou’ on Soundcloud.

There are 41 Beatles songs in the Dutch Top 2000. At #108, the Beatles song Blackbird is one of eleven songs at the same spot as in 2914. The group with the second most songs in 2015 are the Rolling Stones: 27.

202 songs which were in the 2014 Top 2000 have been replaced by others.

The last song, #2000, played first on the radio as #1 will be last, is Bohemian like you by the Dandy Warhols (recorded in 2000).
