Nurses Protest for PPE Outside the White House | NowThis
These frontline nurses protested outside the White House for more personal protective equipment.
In US news and current events today, on April 21, the largest nurses union in the U.S., National Nurses United, protested in front of the White House. In a statement, the group said tens of thousands of health care workers have died, or been infected by COVID-19. As of April 17, there were more than 9,200 confirmed cases of health care workers with COVID-19 in the U.S.
From daily The Morning Star in Britain, 24 April 2020:
Nurses blast Trump over lack of PPE with 50 dead from Covid-19
NURSES and other US health professionals have increased their calls for protective equipment.
Unions are demanding that President Donald Trump acts urgently to force companies to switch production from consumer goods [and weapons for war on Yemen, Afghanistan etc.] to masks, gloves and gowns.
The National Nurses United union (NNU) called on Mr Trump to invoke the Defence Production Act in a bid to tackle the severe shortage of PPE facing health workers, but so far their pleas have been ignored.
This photo shows healthcare workers in the USA counter demonstrating against dying for Wall Street, as advocated by the Donald Trump–Koch brothers–DeVos billionaire family astroturf military gun-toting ‘Flu Klux Klan‘ mobs.

US blockade of Cuba condemned as medical aid blocked for a second time
WASHINGTON has come under fire for blocking much-needed medical supplies from reaching Cuba for a second time, with Swiss groups branding the six-decade-long economic blockade “a criminal act.”
The aid had been collected by the Swiss solidarity group MediCuba Switzerland and had been intended for Covid-19 patients on the socialist island.
More than 1,200 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Cuba which has recorded 43 deaths.
When Capt. Brett Crozier was unceremoniously relieved of his command of the USS Roosevelt after sounding the alarm about sailors falling ill with COVID-19, this team immediately sprung into action to mobilize over 100,000 veterans, military family members, and allies to demand that he be reinstated.
Now the Navy has finished its investigation and today said that the right action would be to reinstate Capt. Brett Crozier. But now it’s up to Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and the Trump administration to follow through on implementing that recommendation.
Our job here isn’t done. Keep the pressure on the Trump administration to do the right thing by signing your name to our petition demanding Sec. Esper follows the Navy’s recommendation and reinstate Capt. Crozier immediately. Click here to add your name.
Capt. Crozier should never have been relieved of his position. He did his job and upheld his responsibilities to protect his crew and our country. And since his dismissal, it’s come to light that over 800 members of the crew of the USS Roosevelt have tested positive for the coronavirus.
There is still time to right this wrong. Add your name if you agree: Sec. Esper should follow the Navy’s recommendation to reinstate Capt. Brett Crozier to his command of the USS Roosevelt immediately.
SIGN THE PETITION
Thanks for taking action today.
