    Patric Tariq Mellet wote: “More than ten years ago I started writing about this historic tragedy in 1794 and calling for a site of remembrance to be established around the Camps Bay to Oudekraal area. I am overjoyed that the memory of the loss of life of these slaves has finally come to pass. The survivors were sold locally and are a part of our ancestry. Salut.”
