This video is about Dutch garden birds.
Last weekend, there was the national garden bird count in the Netherlands.
The Top 10 bird species of that count were (translated):
Total number of garden counts in the Netherlands: 38,131
4 | Blue tit | 66,836 | |
5 | Chaffinch | 55,786 | |
6 | Jackdaw | 55,437 | |
7 | Collared dove | 45,185 | |
8 | Wood pigeon | 33,670 | |
9 | Magpie | 30,936 | |
10 | Starling | 30,461 |
Any surprises? I’m interested that jackdaws were so high in the list. RH

For comparison, these were the 2013 results:
The numbers of birds counted were lower for most species in 2014 than in 2013. That is because so far, 2014 winter weather is much milder than in 2013. So, birds don’t need to go to gardens.
For some species, like the chaffinch, this effect is stronger than for others.
Jackdaws were at #6 in both years.
