Outspoken journo shot in Baghdad
IRAQ: A journalist who criticised the US-backed government and claimed he was abused by the Iraqi army for protesting over shoddy public services was shot dead on Thursday.
Hadi al-Mehdi had a weekly programme on a Baghdad radio channel on which he called on the government to provide better water, electricity and refuse collection services.
A city police officer says Mr Mehdi was shot on Thursday evening.
