Dutch xenophobe Wilders’ local government failure

This video is about the extreme right “English Defense League”, who welcomed Geert Wilders to London, and its links to the nazi “British National Party”.

From British daily The Morning Star:

Wilders fails to form far-right Dutch coalition

Thursday 18 March 2010

Geert Wilders‘ far-right party has abandoned attempts to form a majority coalition in the Dutch town of Almere after no other party could stomach its Islamophobic agenda.

The Freedom Party, known by its Dutch acronym PVV, emerged as the largest party in Almere after local elections on March 3.

Among Mr Wilders’ policies for the town were major tax cuts, a ban on Muslim headscarves in public places, a ban on new mosques and the deployment of “street commandos” to crack down on street crime.

Emerging from coalition talks, Almere Labour Party leader Alphons Muurlink said that the PVV was “the most spendthrift party I have ever seen,” and had no idea how to fund its divisive programme.

Mr Muurlink said that Mr Wilders’ party had showed no desire to negotiate about forming a coalition and appeared happy to wind up in opposition.

And in The Hague, where the PVV came second, the Labour Party, which won the election, refused to even talk about joining forces, saying that there was an “unbridgeable chasm” between its social democratic ideology and Mr Wilder’s populist bile.

The PVV claimed that it was being forced to stay in the opposition through “the manoeuvring of the political elite.”

But political analyst Andre Krouwel of Amsterdam’s Free University laughed at the suggestion that Mr Wilders’ party ever seriously wanted to accept responsibility for governing Almere.

“They had half-hour talks with all the parties without actually discussing policies,” Mr Krouwel said.

“The PVV has no intention of sitting in City Hall – that would make them very vulnerable because it would mean that they would have to negotiate and compromise and they are not prepared to do that.”

  1. Anti gay rights group makes pro-Wilders film

    Monday 22 March 2010

Anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders is to travel to the US to attend the premier of a film about him, even though the film was made together with a conservative anti-gay American Christian group.

Wilders, who has made support for gay rights a central part of his anti-Islam message, says on his website it is a ‘real honour’ that a film has been made about him.

The film is titled Islam Rising: Geert Wilders Warning to the West, and was made by small-time production company PRB Films, together with Christian Action Network.

CAN, which claims to operate along Biblical principles, mainly campaigns against Islam. But it also takes action against same sex marriage and abortion and what it calls anti-Christian art.

‘I totally disagree with them about this [gay marriage],’ Wilders was quoted as saying by the Pers. ‘But they can make a film about me.’

Wilders claimed last year that several professional US film makers had offered their help in making a follow up to his 2008 anti-Islam video compilation Fitna.

  2. AH to Go is guilty of discrimination

    Thursday 01 April 2010

Albert Heijn’s AH to Go railway station supermarkets have allowed discrimination on the grounds of both age and country of origin, the equal opportunities commission said on Thursday.

Last year it emerged a number of AH to Go branches had been told not to employ staff of Moroccan origin.

In addition, the chain is guilty of age discrimination for refusing to employ more expensive workers over the age of 22, news agency ANP said.

The AH to Go chain is run by a company called Servex, party of Dutch Rail, which says it has since taken steps to stop discrimination.
