More bats in The Netherlands

These amazing shots capture the moment a Western bat glides silently in pursuit of prey with delicate wings outstretched and its small mouth gaping open.

Translated from Dutch news agency ANP:

In the past ten years, the numbers of whiskered bats, Geoffroy’s bats and Natterer’s bats have risen strongly, the Dutch bureau of statistics says.

The numbers of greater mouse-eared bats, Myotis daubentonii and Myotis dasycmene grew moderately.
