From Al Akhbar in Egypt about Bahrain:

On brisk November mornings, Abdulnabi Kadhem used to wrap a kuffiyeh around his head for warmth as he tended to his lands near A’ali village in Bahrain.

According to family members, the 44-year-old farmer’s traditional Arabic scarf may have led police to think he was a demonstrator. They had pursued him in their Land Cruiser and crashed into his much smaller sedan, killing him on impact.

Thousands Demonstrate At Funeral Of Bahrain Man

MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) — Thousands of demonstrators chanting anti-government slogans have thronged a Bahrain funeral of an elderly man who witnesses say died from tear gas inhalation.

Amir al-Mouali says his 73-year-old neighbor, Abdulali Ali Ahmed, was taken to a hospital Saturday morning after struggling to breath during a night of heavy clashes near his home along a main highway outside the capital.

Al-Mouali says Ahmed died Saturday evening.

In a statement Sunday, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said Ahmed died of natural causes.

On Saturday, police fired tear gas at protesters along the Budaiya highway, which connects Shiite villages west of Manama, the capital. The demonstration has been going on for three days.

Bahrain’s minority Shiites have been demanding more rights from the Sunni monarchy.
