The European Commission is bringing Romania before the European Court of Justice for its repeated failure to provide adequate protection for wild birds. The country is home to 12 species that are globally threatened. …
Romania is home to many bird species, and the Danube Delta alone hosts more than 320 bird species. It supports 12 globally threatened species, including: Lesser White-fronted and Red-breasted Geese, Marbled and White-headed Ducks, Dalmatian Pelican, Lesser Kestrel, Egyptian Vulture, Sociable Plover, Slender-billed Curlew and Aquatic Warbler.
