From the frequency of video captures it seems like greater yellowlegs spend a lot more of their time in lakes than in the air. However, it just may be that most people have more time taking videos of them in the water because they are more still and easier to film there, or else the greater yellowlegs prefers more time in lakes than in the air, because some birds frequently have a tendency to do that.
Maybe very occasionally very slow flying insects 🙂 Their flight is not as versatile and fast as with swifts or swallows. Their longish bills are for finding invertebrates in the mud of wetlands.
