From Practical Fishkeeping:
Cave-dwelling cichlids found in Lake Malawi
Two new species of cave-dwelling cichlids have been described in the most recent issue of the journal Ichthyological Exploration of Freshwaters.
Rachel Cleaver, Adrianus Konings and Jay Stauffer name the two new species Otopharynx spelaeotes and O. antron.
Also from Practical Fishkeeping:
Ichthyologists from Brazil have described a new species of Australoheros cichlid from southern Brazil.
Felipe Ottoni and Morevy Cheffe name the new species from small tributaries of the upper das Antas River (part of the Jacuí River drainage) Australoheros taura in the latest issue of the journal Spixiana.

A new species of Danakilia (Teleostei, Cichlidae) from Lake Abaeded in East Africa: here.
A new species of Secutor (Teleostei: Leiognathidae) from the Western Indian Ocean: here.
Such a colorful discovery. One can only hope that the fish do not become a black market demand item as a pet.

Hi Jan, I agree. By the way, the picture, as the caption (visible if you move your mouse across the picture) says, is of another Otopharynx species, related to the two newly discovered species.

Great photo of Otopharynx lithobates. Just so casual readers are aware: this photo is imaginatively colorized using Photoshop or similar software. The actual coloration of this species looks nothing like the purple and green shown (the actual appearance may be seen here: http://malawicichlids.com/mw08076.htm).

It looks to good to be true but I would love one in my fish tank… I would need it to be tank bred though because I dont but wild caught fish… It just doesn’t feel right… they do look somewhat better though!:)

Hi eddie, as you see at the upper right of my blog I have few links right now. This is because I have not yet found out how to organize links into sections by subject at this blog. As long as that problem is not solved yet I am not adding links because then all sorts of links would be in a rather chaotic order.

That’s an astonishing fish, might be legendary too with it’s beautiful coloration might due to environment changing or fish evolution.
