This 3 March 2020 video from the USA says about itself:
The REAL Reason Churches Are Holding Services During Quarantine [money]
Pastor plans Easter “Woodstock” at church. Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss on The Young Turks.
“A Pennsylvania pastor said Tuesday he plans to organize an outdoor “Woodstock”-like service in protest of coronavirus stay-at-home orders and following the arrests of multiple pastors in the US for allegedly violating such orders.
Evangelist Jonathan Shuttlesworth said he will hold an “outdoor Easter blowout service”, even though Florida pastor Rodney Howard-Browne was arrested Monday for holding services the day before, potentially placing attendees at risk for COVID-19.
“I’m gonna announce it. … We’re gonna hold an outdoor Easter blowout service. Not online. A national gathering. You come from all over, like Woodstock. And we’re gonna gather and lift up Jesus Christ,” he said.”

It would be one thing if there was evidence that people gathering for religious services were more protected from the coronavirus pandemic than secular gatherings. Unfortunately, the evidence is the exact opposite.
Indeed, the breakout in New York state, in New Rochelle, emerged from the services of a religious group there. Likewise, in South Korea, where again the big breakout was sourced to the gatherings of one particular religious group.
So naturally, when Georgia and Florida finally, finally acted to issue shelter in place orders, they expressly exempted religious groups. Are you kidding us? It’s nothing but naked pandering. They tell us holy week is coming up. Mass suicide week is more like it.
Informed scientists now are coming to a consensus that talking alone puts this virus in the air, you don’t need to have someone cough or sneeze directly in your face to get it, though that will definitely get it. And yet some people are still determined to crowd into rooms of shouting people as if the act of shouting alone will save them. Are people just completely nuts?
There are lots of people in America still running around with a false sense of security. Don’t gather in groups of more than 10, and keep a social distance of 6 feet many are repeating mindlessly, and you’ll be OK. Unless it’s the White House briefing room, by the way.
Oh, yeah, and wear a face mask, unless Trump tells you that you don’t have to if you don’t like the way it looks on you.
People need to wake up. We’re here to tell you if you gather in groups of more than ONE, you are at substantial risk. Even six feet won’t protect you if you are in an enclosed air space with pervasive virus aerosols hanging around. And as for masks, we’ve already told you that anybody who listens to Trump about anything is begging to be among the next wave of victims.
Case in point. Some 72 young people recently chartered a plane for a fun trip to Cabo. They thought there were immune because of their age. Fully half of them came down sick with coronavirus. That’s how infectious this stuff is. And it’s not just killing old folks, either.
Indeed, a lot of people in America seem to think they have some special immunity. We’re not New York or California, argued the governor of Alabama, as she still continued to resist shielding the people of her state with a stay at home order.
Well, maybe a lot of people in America do have a special immunity . . . to facts . . . to science . . . and to just plain good common sense. They’ve proven it time and time again over matters of trivial importance, like with evolution or the age of dinosaur fossils . Only this time it’s life and death.
The good news is that in Washington state, which moved aggressively with a shelter in place order, the number of new cases seems to be on the decline. California’s governor Newsom jumped out early also, and we may be starting to see a flattening of the curve in that state, and also in New York (which tragically did not act quickly enough at first), though the numbers are still not conclusive. This is no time to relax the actions which have already been taken.
But in any case, this is the worst possible time to keep dawdling, even as 11 states still don’t have full statewide lock-down orders, on top of the cheesecloth provisions in GA and FL which we have already discussed. Of course, this is largely the fault of Trump for not leading with a national directive. Those who are still resisting are precisely the red states who are slavishly following his non-leadership example.
And it is an especially bad time to physically congregate in precisely the kinds of environments that have proven to be the best breeding grounds for this virus.
We’re not going to issue a blanket opinion on whether there is or is not a God. That’s not our place. That’s a matter of personal belief.
But some of these people seem to be going out of their way to make an example of, and to prove for all time, that whatever God they profess to worship is a false one.
