Pingback: Trump and coronavirus, Bohemian Rhapsody parody song | sdbast
OK then, if you can still stand to even listen to the sound of his voice, Trump keeps telling us what a great job he’s doing . . . for upwards of a running hour a day.
And as long as anyone in America still believes a word Trump says, the coronavirus pandemic here will just keep getting worse and worse and worse.
It’s just that simple.
Some abject suck up gave Trump a servile praise introduction at the PR stunt of the movement of a hospital ship yesterday, and when we looked to see who it was it turned out to be the Secretary of Defense. OMG, that’s our Secretary of Defense? He sounded just like Reince Preibus, infamous suck up of Trump cabinets’ past.
When Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House’s supposed coronavirus response coordinator sang from the same dear leader hymnal, Brian Williams on MSNBC had a great line. He said, “That was translated from the original North Korean.”
The primary reason why so many people in our country are not taking this pandemic seriously enough is because they are still bought into the rosy hype con job that Trump sells incessantly. Everything will magically be back to normal by Easter he says. He waves his hand like that will make it go away. And people all over the country just keep recklessly congregating without adequate protection.
It wasn’t until we topped the world in numbers of infections, just as we warned we would barely a week ago, that Trump even took the first baby step to implement the Defense Production Act, and even that only for a single company. But still . . . still . . . we have no national coordination of distribution of critical protective equipment.
Trump touts all the companies he claims are ramping up production. But the on the ground reality is that still . . . still . . . states, blue, purple and red, are critically short while they desperately bid up prices for the things they need to usurious levels. And it’s precisely because Trump has done nothing at the federal level to actually take charge of the supply lines.
And he will not. Because that would contradict Trump’s confidence man pitch that everything is going so swell.
On the current trajectory, Trump will literally bankrupt the United States of America, just the way he flushed his casino, and his other businesses, at least five times. The current 2 trillion dollar bill is just a down payment on our total and complete financial destruction at Trump’s little hands.
In the meantime, the one thing Trump is doing is making his response, such as it is, as partisan as possible.
He attacks Democratic governors, even the one in Michigan, until he suddenly remembered it’s an election year swing state. Not a single Democrat was invited to the signing of the gargantuan new bail out bill, not that anyone in their right mind would want to be crowded together there. And Trump is going out of his way to try to make sure his personal signature is on all relief checks that Americans get, like he had actually anything to do with it other than to not veto it.
How many dead bodies will have to pile up in refrigeration trucks before the sheer scale of death and destruction breaks through the right wing ostrich bubble. Do we need 10 times as many infections and deaths as any other country? 100 times? What’s it going to take, America?
Whatever it is, we will surely get there.
Does anybody out there still think we are exaggerating this for some political reason? Today on Jake Tapper’s Sunday show Dr. Anthony Fauci said he did not want to be held . . . held, mind you . . . to a minimum estimate of 100,000 to 200,000 dead Americans, not just infections . . . deaths. We had to replay it, just to make sure we heard him right.
Trump’s uber partisan supporters will back him to the death. And the price for too many of them, and the rest of us as well, will be at least that.
