Senator Bernie Sanders Rally in San Jose, California

2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) spoke to voters in San Jose, California two days before the Golden State’s Super Tuesday primary. At the event, Sen. Sanders spoke about the importance of turnout for California’s primary election, especially when it comes to young voters.

Turns out when Mike Bloomberg was Mayor of New York City he worked with the CIA to spy on Muslims. Ana Kasparian, Dan Evans, and Adrienne Lawrence discuss on The Young Turks.

From the Washington Post:

Blitzing social media and TV with over $230 million of ads, former mayor Mike Bloomberg has crafted an image of himself as the candidate who can transcend America’s polarized politics to defeat Donald Trump in November. But New Yorkers know better: For us, his presidential campaign has resurfaced long-held objections to how he has approached power and public safety.

When Bloomberg went on the Democratic debate stage for the first time last night, he was questioned about what his 2015 defense of “stop-and-frisk” policing might imply about his views toward minority communities. He responded by saying that, over his three terms, the “one thing that I’m embarrassed about” is how stop-and-frisk “turned out”. “It got out of control”, he said.

But that policy was not an anomaly. From stop-and-frisk policing, which increased sixfold under his administration, to warrantless, blanket surveillance of Muslim communities in the tri-state area, Bloomberg blatantly disregarded the civil rights of people of color when he was mayor. At 19, I was targeted by that discriminatory surveillance — and today, I’m reminded of how little the leaders responsible for it have grappled with the consequences.”

Since Mike Bloomberg announced his presidential bid in November, Rowaida Abelzaziz has written about his legacy as mayor of NYC, in particular how he ran a secret program that spied on American Muslims, a gross violation of civil rights. Bloomberg has never apologized for his actions. Indeed, on Thursday night he went on PBS and defended his actions: here.

Pete Buttigieg Drops Out in Last-Ditch Effort to Stop Bernie Sanders

Earlier tonight Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced that he was ending his campaign for President and the Democratic nomination. But the timing is clear: the goal is to stop Bernie Sanders from winning the nomination. By dropping out now just before Super Tuesday, Buttigieg makes Joe Biden more likely to be viable in California, and thus lower Bernie’s delegate lead there. And as he makes Biden and Warren more viable in numerous states, he increases the odds of a brokered convention where superdelegates can steal the nomination from Bernie Sanders.

Protesters In Support Of Myon Burrell Prompted Cancellation Of Klobuchar’s Rally

KLOBUCHAR CANCELS RALLY AS PROTESTORS DEMAND JUSTICE Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) canceled a campaign rally Sunday evening in her home state of Minnesota after protesters demanded she drop out of the presidential race over her past handling of a case that put a Black teenager behind bars for life. Klobuchar returned home in preparation for the Super Tuesday elections this week after she placed in a distant sixth in South Carolina. [HuffPost]

THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY Super Tuesday isn’t one election. It’s not even 16 elections, although voters in 14 states, an overseas territory and Democrats who live outside the United States will all cast ballots. It’s actually more than 150 elections: Full states, congressional and state Senate districts, all places where the candidates are racing to get at least the 15% of the vote needed to win delegates. More than 1,500 delegates are up for grabs, nearly 10 times as many as the voters handed out in the four early states. [HuffPost]

VETERAN US professor and political activist Noam Chomsky issued a sharp warning to the Democratic Party, urging it to reconnect with working-class people to stand a chance of defeating Republican incumbent Donald Trump in November’s presidential election: here.

  1. Here. We. Go. Super Tuesday is tomorrow, and the Democratic establishment has united in one final, desperate attempt to stop Bernie Sanders and our movement.

Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar have both dropped out of the presidential primary race and endorsed Joe Biden. The billionaire-funded Democratic establishment has made their move — now we need to respond.

Corporate Democrats know that our vision of a government that represents all of us, not just wealthy campaign contributors, is on the verge of winning a new era in American politics. They will do ANYTHING to stop us. We need to keep fighting as hard as we can.

Thank you for fighting for our future.

    In solidarity,

    Our Revolution
