This 12 January 2020 video by United States Iraq war veteran and Democratic party presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard says about itself:
Trump disgraces our military
Trump disgraces our military by using our men & women in uniform as mercenaries serving the interests of multinational corporations (e.g. Exxon) & foreign countries (e.g. Saudis). We must stand side by side—no matter our political party—to end this travesty #NoWarWithIran
You needs to learn your history. Trump didn’t start all this. As a matter of fact my son died because he volunteered for the 1st Gulf War and that was 28 years ago! People need to learn the facts before they start running their mouths.

Hi, this is not a history essay by Tulsi Gabbard, but a comment by her on the now threatening war on Iran.
The first Gulf War was on Iraq. No United States government before has ever waged war on Iran. Though. long before the first Gulf War, in 1953, the CIA waged a coup d’état In Iran, replacing democratically elected Prime Minister Mossadegh with the Shah:

Being as Iran does support any and all anti-American people no matter what country, I feel all the disruptions that go on in the Middle East have generally, in some way, come from Iran.

So, not rather from Big Oil, the Saudi absolute monarchy, ISIS (result of the 2003 Iraq war)?

We no longer depend on Middle East oil, so let’s end that here. No matter how far back you want to go – when was the last time the Middle East was peaceful?

Big Oil corporations want oil profits from everywhere, whether the United States as a country imports or exports oil.
Trump has said that United States soldiers are in Syria only for oil:

And now we’re independent, even exporting. I don’t agree with sending troops over there. I want them all home, but what happens every time we leave a troubled area? I’m tired of the US being the world’s police. I wish we didn’t send OUR money over to help other nations – but if you have an alternative, you’d best call Washington (because Congress has become the holding area for ignorance!)

As I said, whether the United States exports or imports oil, that does not stop corporations like Exxon from wanting to control oil in Iran, Iraq or anywhere else. With military consequences.
