The facts are irrefutable. Rainforests burning, glaciers melting. Hurricanes are occurring with higher frequency, increased ferocity and a wider territorial reach. No one can seriously argue against the existence of a climate crisis.
Internationally and domestically, the impact falls disproportionately on the poorest and most oppressed. Witness the impact on Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Indigenous communities worldwide and communities of color in the imperialist west.
Only the rich have the means to escape the consequences of the climate catastrophe, which they created with their lust for profit.
The working class does have the power to protect life on the planet. It is labor who produces everything. Nothing moves without us! The climate crisis is a working class issue and only the working class and the oppressed have the power to reverse it.
We understand this. That’s why several New York City labor organizations are urging union members to support the climate strike. That’s why Amazon workers are walking out to protest the way the company has contributed to the climate crisis.
