Japan: Anti-Trump protesters march through Tokyo during state visit
Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Tokyo on Sunday in protest against US President Donald Trump’s state visit and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s policies.
Footage shows a heavy police presence as protesters hold signs, chant and march through the streets.
The protesters opposed Abe’s economic plans including corporate privatisation, the country’s nuclear power policies and the presence of US troops among other things.
Trump is in Japan to discuss a trade deal with Abe, while his trade negotiations with China and nuclear talks with North Korea both seem to have reached an impasse.
On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump concluded a four-day trip to Japan where he met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
