A mosque in New Zealand was attacked by Trump supporters a day after President Donald Trump issued what many are calling warning saying that it would be very bad if his supporters “Got tough”.
Is the tragedy we are seeing in New Zealand the result of Donald Trump emboldening his white supremacist base and encouraging acts of violence?

In one of Trump’s early political hate bombs he called President Obama the “founder” of Isis.
But if Trump is not the founder of hatred in the world today, he is certainly its heir apparent, its once and future king. Donald Trump, the new King of Hate.
Is it any wonder that the hate-filled terrorist in New Zealand this week cited Trump by name as an inspiration for his acts of mass murder? And has Trump expressly repudiated this approval seeking from one of his loyal disciples, quoting the divisive and ominous “invasion” rhetoric Trump is pushing simultaneously? No, he has not.
From the day he came down his escalator to harangue a crowd of paid extras, Trump’s central go to theme has been hatred of other people. People of Muslim faith, asylum seekers of Hispanic race, the entire continent of Africa, gratuitous and derogatory names for any political opponents, few but the residents of Norway have escaped his open bigotry.
When you hear Trump talk, assuming you can still stand to listen to him, ask yourself, “Who is he telling me to hate today?” And it will all make sense.
His most fervent supporters are apparently so steeped in their own self-consuming hatred, they hardly seem to notice when Trump is stereotyping even them, like when he ridiculed the Southern accent of Jeff Sessions recently. Indeed, the entire operating principle of his chief propaganda outlet, Fox so-called news, is to rile up as much anger and hatred as possible. It’s their de facto corporate business plan.
Trump has repeatedly called for acts of political violence, both directly and by the most obvious of innuendos, including mass sedition, and has abdicated all responsibility when hat wearing members of his mob act out on his brown shirt talk. He has even offered to pay their legal expenses for their own prosecutions. Oh, yeah, the guy from New Zealand is on line one.
We didn’t write that manifesto. Trump did, just a surely as if he had tweeted it verbatim himself. And he’s done that too.
When George W. Bush was in office, right wingers would accuse his non-supporters of “just hating” him. We are hearing the same thing today supposedly about those who oppose Trump. The sad fact is that hate is the only political language they either understand or respond to themselves. So it is, that their only comeback is to try to project their hatred onto others.
And this is reflected consistently in the emails we get from right wingers ourselves. Much more often than not abusive and dominated by foul mouthed cursing. Just hate, hate and more hate. It is the only political argument they have.
Hatred is not a policy position. It is a mental derangement that generates bad policy, often and especially against those who embrace it.
We did not hate George W. Bush. We thought he was stupid. We thought his policies were bad, and we thought he deserved to be impeached for lying us into a major war on false pretenses, and for engaging in systematic torture. What did they call that again . . . enhanced war crimes?
Trump is far worse. Lying constantly about all matters large or small is not a federal or state crime, lucky for him, as long as it is not under oath. But he has committed so many other major crimes, just in his lifelong financial crime spree, no hatred is required to indict him in any of a number of multiple jurisdictions. All that is required is even and fair enforcement of the law.
