  2. From the USA:

We’re sounding the alarm. Trump just named a notorious climate change denier to head the “Presidential Committee on Climate Security”.

The entire premise of this panel is to undermine scientific experts and give voice to fervent climate denialists. This panel is a sham — we need your help to shut it down.

There’s an initial push in Congress to defund the panel — but right now, the environmental movement needs a major show of strength to keep up the momentum in Congress.

A major donor has just stepped up to TRIPLE MATCH every gift to this campaign. The best thing you can do right now to help ramp up this campaign is to make an emergency donation and have your gift tripled.

We need you on our side, and this is the moment when your gift makes the most difference. Will you make a triple-matched gift of $5 or more today?

I hope you’re with us on this — because Trump’s unprecedented attacks on science call for unprecedented resistance.

Late last year, the National Climate Assessment (NCA) made it clear: If we don’t cut carbon emissions now, we are going to face food shortages, droughts, wildfires, eroding coastlines, and severe poverty. But Trump’s response to his own administration’s climate scientists said it all: “I don’t believe it.”

William Happer — Trump’s choice to head this so-called climate change panel — is a continuation of this nightmare. Happer has repeatedly made offensive comments to defend his beliefs, going so far as to say that “the demonization of carbon dioxide is just like the demonization of the poor Jews under Hitler.” This man has absolutely NO place leading our environmental public policy.

As more comes to light about this climate change denial panel and its leadership, we have to mobilize all our resources to stop it here and now.

We need to keep the pressure on Congress. LCV and our members will continue to push the House and Senate to defund this panel. We’ll hold members of Congress accountable for not conducting real environmental oversight. Too much is at stake for us to stay silent.

I want you to know that we CAN win this fight. Thousands of people from all over the country are pitching in with $5, $10, $20 donations — some becoming LCV members for the very first time, and many making monthly contributions to help fight back.

Please, help us hit our goal. We need to raise $250,000 by the end of March to keep our work going strong — and if everyone reading this right now pitched in just $5, we’d blow through that goal in minutes. Remember — a donor is offering a triple match, so your contribution goes even further than usual if you give today.

Triple your impact: Join the fight TODAY with a gift of $5 or more. We won’t win without your help »

Every action Trump takes to harm the environment must be met with fierce resistance, Lola. We’re counting on you to stand with us against him, every step of the way.

Thank you for all of your support — we couldn’t do our work without you.
