Mainstream Conservative Three Witches join Blairite Seven Dwarfs

This 18 February 2019 video from Britain says about itself:

Angela Smith appears to describe people with ‘funny tinge’ in racism debate

Ex-Labour MP sparks immediate racism row on launch day of her political organisation, the Independent Group, while appearing on BBC’s Politics Live.

After yesterday seven right-wing British Blairite MPs, the ‘Seven Dwarfs’, quit the Labour party, to form a new ‘centrist‘ party … sorry, they are not calling it a party, but an ‘independent group’ … because they had failed to make the Labour party a Conservative party-lite again, as it used to be in the ‘good old days’ under Margaret Thatcher-admiring Tony Blair

Now, today, the Blairite ‘Seven Dwarfs’ are joined by three now ex-Conservative MPs, as Irish RTÉ news reports.

In the title of this blog post, I called these three (no more Conservative, but still conservative) MPS the Three Witches. That is an allusion to William Shakespeare‘s play Macbeth. In Macbeth, the witches first predict Macbeth’s rise to the kingship of Scotland. Later, they predict his downfall.

The ‘centrist‘ ‘independent group’, living in their fairytale Westminster bubble, will rise probably a bit in opinion polls thanks to much corporate media publicity.

Then, as inevitably as predicted by the witches in Macbeth, their downfall will come. Like happened to a 1981 right-wing breakaway from Labour, the SDP.

However, I now realize I am wrong to call these three conservative politicians the Three Witches; and I will stop doing so. As Shakespeare’s three witches were Scottish. While the three conservatives are all English.

Three Amigos is a 1986 American western comedy film.

Another 1980s right-wing breakaway from Labour was Real Bermondsey Labour. These were homophobes.

An interesting difference between the 1980s and now is that Real Bermondsey Labour, while being homophobic right-wingers, pretended to be ‘real Labour’, not conservative. While in February 2019, the Blairite Seven Dwarfs have given up pretending to be ‘real Labour’, and welcome the three conservatives warmly.

These three conservatives see themselves as ‘mainstream Conservative’, according to RTÉ.

Their only gripes with the Conservative party seem to be the dependency of Theresa May‘s minority government on the Northern Irish DUP sectarians, and Brexit.

Opposing Brexit may be the only point glueing the ‘independent group’ together; for the time being.

Are there not more important points than Brexit or no Brexit, in Britain and in the world?

The British young people’s movement against climate change rightly criticizes the corporate media and politicians talking endlessly about Brexit or Remain; while noting that humans and other living beings should survive global warming which should stop is far more important.

Are not whether or not a British government will risk worldwide nuclear annihilation with its Trident weapons; or whether British soldiers should continue waging wars, and British war profiteers selling weapons, all over the world; more important than Brexit or Remain?

Isn’t racism or anti-racism more important than Brexit debates neglecting all other issues?

Isn’t the question of treating disabled people like human beings or maligning them as ‘spongers’ more important than the Brexit/Stop Brexit Tweedledee/Tweedledum games?

Heidi Allen is one of the three now ex-Conservative, but still conservative, MPs.

  1. The formation of the IG confirms there are no principled political difference between the Tories and the Blairite right—including the dozens of MPs who remain in the party thanks to the refusal of Corbyn to drive them out.

Another right-winger, Ian Austin, resigned from Labour Friday. Austin said he agreed with the eight departed MPs that things “have got to change,” but he is pro-Brexit and recently defied a Labour whipped vote to back Prime Minister Theresa May’s proposed withdrawal deal with the EU. For this he suffered no consequences from the Corbyn leadership.

Austin is a renowned warmonger and provocateur. His previous most debased moment came in July 2016, when he was reprimanded by the Speaker for shouting at Corbyn, “Sit down and shut up” and “You’re a disgrace” after his party’s leader criticised the 2003 invasion of Iraq. This followed publication of the Chilcot Inquiry report which found that the “intelligence” on weapons of mass destruction was hyped up, that the process of deciding the legal basis for war was flawed and that invasion was unnecessary.
