Workers’ general strike in Monaco

As mentioned in this blog post, people often get the impression from media reports that Belgium is a small prosperous country with few if any conflicts between rich and poor people. Belgium may be comparatively small, but the rest is not true.

About Monaco, people often get the impression from media reports that it is a still much smaller country, where only the princely family and other rich people live; and where tourists win or (more often) lose much money in the casino. Monaco really is much smaller than Belgium, but the rest of that is again not true; as the video shows.

The video says, translated from French:

Thursday, February 7, 2019, general strike and demonstration in Monaco

About 600 workers, all sectors combined, took to the streets of the Principality at the call of the Federation of Trade Unions of Monaco. Central to the discontent are wages and working conditions that could seriously deteriorate with the upcoming revision of the labor law of Monaco.

A report by Véronique Varin and Laurent Verdi for France 3 Côte d’Azur.
