A Turkish TV station has broadcast images showing how men carry the remains of the murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi into the official residence of the Saudi consul general in Istanbul.

The images were made by a security camera. The remains are said to have been in five suitcases, which the men dragged along with them.

Reuters news agency asked the Saudi government for a response. They have not responded.

Crown prince’s assignment

Khashoggi was a columnist at The Washington Post and a critic of the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman. He was murdered on October 2 when he wanted to have papers prepared for his marriage in the Saudi consulate general in Istanbul. His body has never been found.

The Saudis initially said that Khashoggi had left the consulate in a healthy state after his appointment. Later that month their story was that he was killed in a fight in the consulate

with ‘rogue killers’

. Still later Saudi Arabia admitted that Khashoggi had been murdered deliberately, adding that the crown prince himself knew nothing.

According to The Washington Post, the American secret service CIA assumes that crown prince Mohammed himself has ordered the murder.
