Death of Khashoggi commemorated worldwide, month after disappearance

Activists, journalists and politicians have commemorated the murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi. It was a month ago today that he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and disappeared. According to the Turkish authorities, he was strangled shortly after arrival.

At the Saudi embassy in London today there was a demonstration by Amnesty International activists. At the entrance of the building they placed a street sign with “Khashoggi Street” on it.

In Washington, a memorial service was held in honour of Khashoggi, who worked for The Washington Post. Colleagues, human rights activists, American politicians and Saudi dissidents came together to reflect on the death of the journalist.

Eiffel Tower lights out for a moment

Also in Paris it was remembered that it was a month ago that Khashoggi disappeared. In the French capital, the lights of the Eiffel Tower went off.
