German government suspends weapons export to Saudi Arabia

This 18 February 2018 video is called Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Al Jubeir, Addresses Munich Security Conference 2018 in Munich, Germany.

That was then. And now …

Translated from Dutch NOS TV today:

Germany suspends arms exports to Saudi Arabia. This has been announced by Chancellor Merkel.

According to Merkel, no arms deliveries can take place “in the current situation”. First, clarification is needed about what happened to the Saudi journalist Khashoggi at the consulate in Istanbul.

Saudi Arabia is the second largest customer of the German weapons industry. Until September 30, the government granted export licenses worth 416.4 million euros.
