This 26 September 2018 video from the USA says about itself:
At a time when 44 million Americans have $1.5 trillion in student debt, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has invested millions in companies that take advantage of kids trying to get a higher education.
BETSY DEVOS SLAMMED FOR TRYING TO DEFUND SPECIAL OLYMPICS Education Secretary Betsy DeVos tried to defend the department’s proposed budget cuts ― including the elimination of funding for the Special Olympics ― in a hearing before House lawmakers on Tuesday. She was met with scathing responses from many, including Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.), who asked DeVos how many kids would be affected by the proposed cuts. DeVos said she didn’t know. “It’s 272,000 kids,” he replied. [HuffPost]
BETSY DEVOS’ PROPOSED EDUCATION CUTS GO DEEP News of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ proposed cuts to Special Olympics funding went viral this week, but advocates say that focus has obscured the much deeper cuts DeVos is trying to make to other areas. These would eliminate 29 education programs, including after-school programs for low-income kids, a program that provides professional development for teachers and one that helps provide mental health services. All are essential to kids with disabilities. [HuffPost]
Behind the quiet rule-making activities of US Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, the Trump administration is dealing hammer-blows against the edifice of public higher education: here.
