Amazon.com, world’s richest man, worst employer

This September 2018 video from Texas in the USA says about itself:

Injured Amazon worker Angela: “If workers controlled Bezos’ billions, nobody would be homeless

The International Amazon Workers Voice (IAWV) spoke to Angela Shelton, an injured worker at the DFW7 Amazon fulfillment center in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, where a number of injured workers have recently been made homeless.

Justin Welby criticised companies like Amazon for paying “almost nothing” in taxes and described the gig economy and zero-hour contracts as “the reincarnation of an ancient evil.” Following his speech, it was revealed that at least two C of E cathedrals are advertising zero-hours contract jobs, and the Church has confirmed retailer Amazon is one of its 20 biggest investments worldwide: here.

  2. Demonstration outside Amazon fulfilment centre in English midlands

Workers took part in a demonstration outside the Amazon depot in Rugeley in the English midlands on September 6. The facility is known as one of the most dangerous places to work in Britain, with 115 ambulance calls recorded over the last three years for major traumas, pregnancies, strokes, electric shocks and other emergencies. According to the GMB union, a pregnant worker was required to stand for 10 hours after being refused a reassignment to a more appropriate role.
