Clintonite Democrats, fossil fuel politicians

This 4 April 2016 video from the USA says about itself:

How Much Money Has Hillary Clinton‘s Campaign Taken from Fossil Fuel Companies?

According to a new report by Greenpeace, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and the super PAC supporting her have received $138,400 from fossil fuel lobbyists and $1,327,210 from bundlers, totaling more than $4.5 million from lobbyists, bundlers and large donors connected the fossil fuel industry. Clinton maintains that she’s received only about $330,000 from individuals who work for fossil fuel companies—about 0.2 percent of the total raised by her campaign.

We speak with Charlie Cray, research specialist for Greenpeace and lead researcher on the fossil fuel lobbyists’ contributions to the Clinton campaign, as well as Eva Resnick-Day, a democracy organizer for Greenpeace who confronted Clinton at a rally.

From Our Revolution, the Bernie Sanders tendency within the United States Democratic party, today:

As California continued to burn through the weekend, DNC [Democratic National Committee] Chairman Tom Perez and other party elites poured gasoline on the fire. They reversed the progress you fought for by overturning the DNC’s ban on accepting donations from fossil fuel corporate PACs in a 30-2 vote.

If we’re going to save our planet, we need to be fully committed to 100% renewable energy right now. A party that accepts money from fossil fuel executives and PACs is inviting climate catastrophe.

Tell the DNC: Reinstate the ban on fossil fuel special interest donations and stand with the grassroots climate activists fighting for a sustainable planet.

Make no mistake – our climate is in crisis. This summer alone we’ve seen the largest fire in California history, wildfires in the Arctic forests of Sweden, 91 people killed from wildfires in Greece, and record-breaking heat waves that killed 119 people in Japan, 29 in South Korea, and 65 in Pakistan. We have the most carbon in our atmosphere in the last 800,000 years.

This is why we must change the status quo and challenge the political establishment. We cannot forget the silence of Democratic Party leaders as Water Protectors defended their sacred land at Standing Rock from the Dakota Access Pipeline – Friday’s vote is a betrayal of our values. We demand accountability.

It is not acceptable to pay lip service to the most existential threat our planet faces and then perpetuate the corrupting influence of corporate PAC money from the fossil fuel industry in our politics.

That’s why we’re collecting 100,000 signatures to demonstrate the grassroots opposition to this decision by fossil fuel executives and party elites. Add your name to our petition here.

Accountability matters. We cannot be afraid of doing what is right, especially when it requires standing up to the privileged and powerful. Our future is at stake.
