Female Rufous Hummingbird Flashes Iridescent Throat Spot – July 12, 2018

Male hummingbirds aren’t the only flashy fliers in West Texas, some females also exhibit glittering, iridescent spots in the center of their throats. Here, a Rufous Hummingbird flashes her glowing orange throat spot at the camera as other hummingbirds encroach the feeder.

So, now not just good news about female humans in Texas, but about female hummingbirds as well.
