Audi stops selling A6 and A7 cars because of ‘abnormalities’ in their diesel software
Audi has shut down the production and delivery of A6 and A7 models after “abnormalities” in the software of diesel engines of 60,000 cars were detected. …
Der Spiegel weekly wrote earlier today about a threatening new diesel scandal at Audi. According to the German magazine it is “very likely” that the car corporation has once again committed fraud with the emission values of diesel cars.
AdBlue
New cars from the A6 and A7 series are said to disable AdBlue, which reduces nitrogen dioxide emissions, while driving in order to reduce costs. As a result, the cars emit far more harmful substances than is permitted.
The German transport watchdog KBA and the Ministry of Transport have confirmed that they want to interrogate Audi employees because of the suspicion of an illegal ‘switch-off system’.
Since 2015, when stricter emission standards were introduced in Germany, more than 150,000 Audi cars have been recalled. That year the diesel scandal at parent company Volkswagen came to light. Audi also admitted having messed with so-called TDI engines.

Last month, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt launched a major assault on families in America by rolling back fuel-efficiency standards. Now, Trump is set to make this rollback official and is meeting with the top auto CEOs TOMORROW to get their blessing.
Here’s the catch: These CEOs will listen to their consumers. We know that Trump cares more about what industry leaders think than everyday people. So if we can pressure these CEOs enough to stand up to Trump and to stand WITH their customers, there’s a real chance that we can get Trump to back down.
But that will only happen if you speak out NOW.

Clean car standards are one of the last policies we have in place to combat climate change. But without these standards, we will take a giant step backward in the fight against climate change, and our communities — especially low-income and communities of color — will be subjected to even dirtier air.
But automakers are currently on track to meet the the original goals laid out by President Obama. Already America’s clean car standards have saved drivers more than $50 billion and counting. And with cleaner cars comes cleaner air — helping the 25 million Americans who suffer from asthma. We can’t afford to stop this progress now.
When Trump was inaugurated, many of these same automakers lobbied for the clean car standards to be rolled back. That’s why Trump thinks that he is doing them a favor with this latest environmental assault. But after massive public backlash, the automakers have changed their tune. That’s because even though our President doesn’t personally feel beholden to the people of this country, automakers know that they are.
Big car companies rely on consumers and a positive image to stay in business, so we know that that our activism can work. Some automakers have started to distance themselves from the Trump administration, but they haven’t done enough — they need to tell Trump to stop this assault on our clean air completely. If we make enough noise now and demand that they stick up for clean cars, they’ll have no choice but to go even further. And if we can win them over, they might just be able to sway Trump.
