A beautiful tricolored heron perching on display. This one is unusually relaxed. Typically they take right off when people are near. The tricolored heron is protected by the U.S. Migratory Bird Treaty Act and is listed as Threatened by Florida’s Endangered and Threatened Species Rule.
I was privileged to see these beautiful birds in Cuba and in Costa Rica.

Yes, they live in a rather big area, but mainly along coasts.
