Grosbeaks, Chickadees, and Nuthatches Forage On Wet Ontario Morning – Dec. 4, 2017
Pine Grosbeaks, Black-capped Chickadees, and Red-breasted Nuthatches enjoy the offerings at the feeders during a wet morning on the Ontario FeederWatch cam.

I can remember telling you about my keen interest in having a bird feeder for our backyard. After seeing a neighbour’s bird feeder, which is about the size of the one featured in the video, I decided against one of that size. Where I live are many native parrots, very loud/noisy native parrots including the Australian cockatoo. The cockatoo, although a gorgeous bird, has a very loud screech, and when it becomes familiar with an area has been known to be quite destructive (destroying roofs, fences, in fact anything that takes its fancy). So I opted for a small birdfeeder to accommodate finches, wrens and suchlike. It’s a compromise, but one I can live with. 🙂

Are the smaller birds coming to your feeder?

They are quite shy, however, we’ve seen a few, especially the willy wagtail… I also have a bird bath, which is enjoyed by many… It really is quite a joy to see them splashing about.
We do have three little dogs though, who do think the yard is theirs and don’t always enjoy sharing. The poor little birds don’t have ‘free rein’ at all times, so to speak, but do, at least, get to hide in our bushes, especially the finches and wrens.
A dove couple are nesting, once again, in one of the very dense bushes. All in all, it’s fun, and it feels good to help out..
