This German tweet announces replicas of tropical helmets of the Afrika Korps of Adolf Hitler‘s armed forces. ‘Complete with [nazi] eagle sign’.
Translated from Dutch NOS TV today:
The German supermarket chain Real has taken replicas of stuff from the Nazi age off its website. In the webshop, for example, tropical helmets, belts and uniforms from the Wehrmacht were for sale. The articles offered led to a lot of criticism on social media.
The Wehrmacht was the name for the armed forces of Nazi Germany. On Twitter, some argued that the supermarket chain glorified the Nazi era by selling these replica products.
The well-known comedian Jan Böhmermann was one of the people who criticized Real’s products.
